COVID-19

Kia ora,

On this page I will keep you updated with what's happening at the Centre in response to the pandemic.

Let's take this as an opportunity to look after ourselves and each other.  Rest well, eat well and find a reason to keep smiling amongst all this tension and uncertainty.

love,

COVID-19 Protection Framework - Traffic Light Orange
Firstly, from me and the whole team - we hope you're ok.  It's been a month of change for all of us.  Now is a good time to really discover what looking after ourselve means.  Let's be kind and gentle with ourselves as well as others.

We were sad to see 6 of our practitioner team leave this month, post the Public Health Order.  We still have a dedicated team offering quality natural health care. Gavin, Debbie, Jill, Rhys and myself are all vaccinated, as are our support team of Lily, who you'll see on reception, and Rachel, who keeps the Centre clean.

Operating under Orange
We offer a health service and take our guidance from the Ministry of Health. Therefore we are obliged to treat all patients equally, whether they are vaccinated or not and so we will not be operating the Vaccine Possport System.

  • Come as close to the time of your appointment as you are able to avoid spending long periods in reception
  • Please scan in using our QR code
  • Sanitise or wash your hands after entering the building
  • Maintain social distancing as much as possible within the premises

Nice one everyone - virtual high five coming your way!!

15 May 2020 - day 2 of Alert Level 2

We had our first day back yesterday - Gavin and I were both working and things were pretty serene.  The new processes and cleaning between clients take a little extra time but aren't too arduous.

Looking at the latest info on the Ministry of Health website my interpretation is that as long as we have done screening prior to the appointment then masks are not a necessity.  Therefore
the decision to wear masks is left to each practitioner and their individual client.

I've been to a couple of local businesses today to spend a little money and show my support.  I can see a lot of relief that places are able to open for business again along with some tiredeness and concern.  This has hit many small business hard, so I'd like to take this opportunity to encourage you to support your local businesses.  We really are stronger together.

13 May 2020 - update

In this constantly evolving situation I have an update to the message below about what to expect.

My latest advice to all our practitioners is that if they are to be closer than 1m then masks should be worn.  I have made this decision based on info from
WorkSafe.

13 May 2020 - what to expect when you come to see us at Alert Level 2

We're so looking forward to seeing our clients tomorrow!  We have a few new requirements of us at Alert Level 2, which means your visit will be a little different at Alert Level 2.  This is to ensure your health and safety and that of our practitioner team.

Before you come for your appointment a screening document will be sent by your practitioner asking you not to come if you are unwell or been in contact with COVID-19 (see the pre-screening post below for the full wording).

When you come for your appointment your practitioner will meet you in reception and ask you to either wash your hands or use the sanitizer provided.  Just in case they have been way laid there are a few chairs appropriately distanced from one another for you to have a seat.

Once you have washed or sanitized your hands you will be invited into the treatment room.  Your practitioner will ask the screening questions one last time and fill out a contact tracing document.  Then treatment will continue as normal.

Your practitioner may choose to wear a mask.  However as long as screening is sucessful there is no requirement for them to do so.

Once your session has finished and payment has been agreed (eftpos, internet banking or invoicing - we are not able to take cash at this time) then please leave the Centre to go and enjoy the rest of your day.

After you have left your practitioner will be washing their hands, sanitizing all surfaces touched by you and them, changing treatment bed linen so that the Centre and the room is clean and ready for the next client.

12 May 2020 - contact tracing

For those using the Covid 19 Register App - I have just registered the Centre, so we have a QR code.

Practitioners will be asked to fill out a contact tracing register at the time of the appointment so that we can supply the Ministry of Health with information if they require it.  We will of course preserve your privacy otherwise.

If you are interested in registering on the app for personal or business use here is the link https://covidregister.nz/

12 May 2020 - pre-consult screening

To ensure the health and safety of our practioner team and all our clients we will need to screen all clients prior to treatment.  As part of our commitment to keeping us all safe we have posted this on our BOOK NOW page:

As advised by the Ministry of Health please read following COVID-19 booking conditions:

In order to look after the health and safety of others attending this clinic as well as your own, please read the following:

Please do not attend the clinic  if you can answer ‘Yes’ to ANY of the following screening questions:
1. Have you tested positive for COVID-19? (subject to being certified by a medical health professional as fully recovered)
2. Have you had contact with anyone with confirmed COVID-19, or someone who has been in direct contact     with a confirmed case, in the last 14 days?
3.  Have you had any of these symptoms in the last 14 days?
Fever greater than 38°C
Difficulty breathing
Cough
Loss of sense of smell or taste
4. Are you currently experiencing fever over 38°C, difficulty breathing, cough or loss of sense of smell or taste?

If you do have any of these signs or symptoms please contact your GP and arrange to be tested for Covid-19.

11 May 2020 - looking forward to reopnening on Thursday 14 May

Following government's decision to move to Alert Level 2 on Thursday we are v much looking forward to welcoming all our clients back to the Centre.

Full details on what that will look like will be posted as we go.  The note below from 9 May is our best guess of what it will look like, though we are waiting to hear full details from the Ministry of Health on what is expected from Allied Health Professsionals.

9 May 2020 - Preparing for Alert Level 2

Whilst we wait to hear about the next steps for our country on Monday, we are busy behind the scenes cleaning and preparing to welcome our clients back.

We have a comprehensive Health and Safety Plan to safeguard the health of our clients and
our practitioner team, which will be regularly updated in compliance with the Ministry of Health guidelines.

Some of the things we are planning for when we reopen during Alert Level 2:
  • Contact tracing for all those coming into the Centre
  • Sanitization station at the front door for use before entering
  • The Centre will only be open to those with an appointment.  No walk-ins please.
  • Each practitioner will be ready to welcome clients into their treatment room to avoid waiting in reception
  • We are ready and prepared to use PPE equipment
  • Practitioners will be sanitizing surfaces in between each client

We're looking forward to seeing you and reopening when we are able.

28 April 2020 - Alert Level 3

Whilst the Centre remains closed until Alert Level 2, Gavin is offering Telehealth osteopathic appointments and is able to see clients face to face in very serious speicific cases.  If you think you need an appointment click the Cliniko link on our Book Now page.

21 April 2020 - Alert Level 4

Alert Level 4 will continue until 11.59pm on Monday 27 April when we will return to Alert Level 3.

The Centre must remain closed until Alert Level 2.  In the meantime some of our practitioners are offering online consulations - contact your practitioner directly or email [email protected] for more info.

The next decision whether to lower the alert level will be made by government in mid May.

Our intention is to open again as soon as we are able, taking into consideration the safety and health of our team and our clients.  We are so looking forward to seeing you all again!  We've missed you and each other during this lockdown period.  And we know this has been the best thing for our country during this pandemic.

Continue to rest well, eat well and be kind to yourself and others xxx

23 March 2020 - Alert Level 3

Jacinda Ardern has just announced that the Alert Level has risen to 3 today and will go up to Level 4 in 48 hours.

The Centre will need to close as of today.  We will update this page and our facebook page.

Some practitioners are offering online sessions - email [email protected] for more information.

22 March 2020 - Alert Level 2

Currently the Centre is open and practitioners are seeing clients.  To reduce contact in our reception area Lily will be supporting us by working from home.  I have arranged for a gap between my clients so that they can come directly into my treatment room to avoid waiting in reception and have asked that other practitioners at the Centre do the same.

In order to look after the health of all our clients and practitioners we ask that if you have a cough or cold that you reschedule your appointment.  If you have a cough/cold, fever and chills and a sore throat or chest pain please call Healthline.

If you are over 70 or have a compromised immune system the current advice is for you to please stay home.

Please only come to the Centre if you have an appointment.

Over the last week our cleaning schedule has increased and we are regularly cleaning commonly used surfaces eg doorhandles and light switches.  We have face masks, protective eye wear and gloves available if we need it.

Over the coming weeks/months I will make decisions based on guidance from the Ministry of Health.  The Centre will most likely need to close for a time when we get to Alert Level 3 and all non-essential businesses are asked to close.

We have three Sunday Sanctuaries scheduled for April and May, which we will postpone to a later date.

The best resource to keep up to date with what's happening country-wide is the government's covid19 page.
