What is Zero Balancing? Zero Balancing (ZB) is a non-diagnostic, holistic bodywork therapy. Gentle touch is used to ease tension through the skeleton and soft tissue, balancing structure and energy through the whole system to amplify vitality and support a greater sense of well-being. ZB supports the release of physical and emotional trauma which may be stored in the body as patterns of chronic tension and imbalance. "Dr. Fritz Smith (MD Osteo), the founder of ZB came to recognise a specific area in a person where movement and structure are in juxtaposition, similar to the situation in a sailboat where the wind (movement) and sail (structure) meet. Following the initial exploration of this interface, Dr. Smith formulated the structural acupressure system of Zero Balancing in 1973 to evaluate and balance the relationship between energy and structure in the body. The powerful and lasting effects he witnessed in patients following a Zero Balancing session led him to understand that the bridging of energy and matter exists in the level of the body, and the mind and the spirit of a person and that any, or all, of these levels can be addressed by Zero Balancing. The implications of his new understandings and experience of this inspirational structural/energetic interface led him to specialise in the broader fields of health, wellness and human potential and thereafter to teach Zero Balancing to thousands of students over the past 50 years." The ‘Zero’ aspect means returning people back to a metaphorical 0 degree point of Balance - physically and mentally; maintaining energy levels and calm (we need both) – why wouldn’t you want that every month?! (parts extracted from https://zbtouch.org/about-us/founder/) Will Zero Balancing help me? Zero Balancing can be helpful for a wide range of chronic pain issues, anxiety, neurological impairment and general self-care. Rhys works with children currently from 8 years, up to the elderly. The benefits of having regular self-care for all ages, cannot be overstated. People often report feelings of re-integration, reduced pain, freer movement, feeling more centred and being more in balance. The results for the mind can include clearer thinking, relaxation, rejuvenation, a sense of calm, and feeling of being more like your ‘old self’. What can I expect from a Zero Balancing session treatment? The first session will take an hour, which includes a 15 minutes discussion around your relevant history, needs and goals. It's best to wear comfortable, loose fitting or stretchy clothing to the appointment. Shoes, glasses and belts are removed prior to assessment and treatment. During the treatment people typically lie face-up, fully clothed on a therapy table. The focus is primarily on bones and joints from head to foot, with some soft tissue work as needed. Treatment involves non-invasive stretches and acupressure, from head to foot, including arms. Follow up sessions can be either 45 or 60 minute sessions. There are discounts for 4 packs and memberships. Children’s sessions are kept to 30 minutes maximum. You can expect to be treated with absolute respect and integrity.
