Zero Balancing (ZB) and Craniosacral (CST) were both developed by doctors of Osteopathy in the USA during the 1970’s. Rhys has been a practicing therapist for 5 years following a career in ambulance.
While we are used to receiving a physical therapy for an ailing body part, we are less familiar with total body therapy, other than massage. These techniques go deeper than massage, yet are way more gentle – ZB works with bones and fascia, CST with nervous system and fascia.
They re-balance the whole body, a kind of preventive maintenance, or regular self- care option - as well as often resolving niggles that might arise between sessions. They also have a very strong influence on our body-mind relationship, some would say that the resolution of stress (including PTSD), anxiety, anger, etc, with resultant calm and improved energy are among their greatest benefits.
Rhys is a Ngaio resident and found Zero Balancing to be an incredibly restorative therapy for his own arthritis of the feet, and for the knee ligament damage that curtailed his former career as a paramedic. However, the greatest impact was on his mental well-being and feeling completely integrated, like his ‘old self’ again. He finds it extremely rewarding now to pass similar benefits on to his clients in whichever way they need. Rhys also provides bodywork clients with coaching in Mindfulness to help people with their daily challenges and state of mind. He publishes a monthly newsletter on present moment awareness which is free to anyone who visits his website.
Rhys is not currently working with babies or infants, though this may change in future. Please discuss any children under the age of 8 years with Rhys on 0272445886 prior to booking.
He recently heard a quote relayed by the late Queen who said:
“He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything.”
