What is Ortho-Bionomy®? Ortho-Bionomy is a very gentle form of bodywork which is highly effective in working with chronic stress, injury, pain and problems arising from postural and structural imbalances. British trained osteopath, Dr Arthur Lincoln Pauls, discovered that by stimulating the body’s reflexes for self-correction, pain and tension can be relieved and a sense of relaxation and wellbeing can be restored. As he said: "Ortho-Bionomy is really about understanding your whole life-cycle. We focus on structure because that is the literal skeleton upon which our life is built." Could Ortho-Bionomy help me? Sometimes, the body’s natural ability to remain balanced is interrupted by injury, accident, improper posture, stress, or emotional experience. When the body is out of balance, this can create patterns of even greater stress. Ortho-Bionomy is beneficial whether relief is being sought from pain and discomfort, or to ease stress and promote relaxation. It can also work alongside other healing systems. Using Ortho-Bionomy, the client and practitioner work together to re-educate the body and restore normal function. You will be empowered to participate in your own recovery and begin to rediscover the ability to restore ease and comfort to your body. Ortho-Bionomy may assist with a broad range of conditions for people of all ages. It is not a substitute for appropriate medical care, exercise and nutrition. Ortho-Bionomy® is a registered trademark of Ortho-Bionomy New Zealand Inc and is used with permission What can I expect from an Ortho-Bionomy® treatment? Typically, a session lasts about an hour. It’s recommended that you wear comfortable loose fitting clothing, that allows a full range of motion. Your Ortho-Bionomy Practitioner will work with you to identify any areas of pain, discomfort and restriction, as well as identifying areas of comfort and ease of movement. Your body’s reflexes for self-correction will be stimulated with gentle movement, comfortable positioning, brief compression and subtle contact. No forceful movements are used. Every Ortho-Bionomy session is specifically designed around the needs of the individual client and your Ortho-Bionomy Practitioner relies on, and invites your verbal feedback to fine tune movement that best facilitates your return to ease, comfort and natural alignment. |
