Ortho-Bionomy®

Ortho-Bionomy is a very gentle form of bodywork that works with comfort, ease, and the body’s own responses rather than force. It is often chosen by people who prefer a calm, collaborative, and non-invasive hands-on approach.

Developed by British-trained osteopath Dr Arthur Lincoln Pauls, Ortho-Bionomy grew out of the idea that the body often responds well to gentle positioning, subtle movement, and attentive support. As he said:

“Ortho-Bionomy is really about understanding your whole life-cycle. We focus on structure because that is the literal skeleton upon which our life is built.”

Could Ortho-Bionomy help me?
Sometimes the body’s usual sense of ease can feel interrupted by injury, stress, posture, overload, or life experience. When this happens, people may notice patterns of discomfort, tension, holding, or reduced freedom of movement.

Ortho-Bionomy may be chosen by people seeking a gentle approach for pain, discomfort, stress, or relaxation, and it can also sit alongside other kinds of care.

Using Ortho-Bionomy, the client and practitioner work together in a way that encourages awareness, comfort, and ease of movement. The process is collaborative, with the practitioner relying on your feedback throughout the session.

It is not a substitute for appropriate medical care, exercise, or nutrition.

What can I expect from an Ortho-Bionomy® treatment?
Typically, a session lasts about an hour. It’s recommended that you wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows a full range of motion.

Your Ortho-Bionomy Practitioner will work with you to explore areas of pain, discomfort, restriction, comfort, and ease of movement.

Gentle movement, comfortable positioning, brief compression, and subtle contact may be used. No forceful movements are involved.

Every Ortho-Bionomy session is designed around the individual, and your practitioner will invite your verbal feedback to help guide the session toward what feels most comfortable and supportive for your body.
